Within Micromagnetic Tomography the term ‘Co-registration’ is employed to indicate the process of matching the coordinate systems of MicroCT data to the coordinate system of SSM/QDM data. Co-registration is currently applied by manually matching the grain positions of the MicroCT to a LED-image of the SSM/QDM data. The quality of this co-registration heavily affects results obtained with MMT.

Perfect co-registration is not always possible due to non-smoothness of the sample. In that case the LED image of the sample’s surface, taken by either the QDM or SSM equipment, is non-linear. This problem is frequently solved by local adjustments to the co-registration of the data.
