A magnetic scan obtained with minimum distance between sensor and the surface of a magnetic sample. The magnetic surface scan shows the a ‘cross-section’ of the magnetic field produced by a magnetic sample. In MMT, the magnetic surface scan is obtained with a SSM or QDM. Combining a magnetic surface scan with the corresponding positional data of magnetic grains enables the calculation of individual magnetic moments.
